Octacomm Connectivity Device General Information

The Octacomm connectivity device provides a cost-effective interface between a hospital's clinical information system (including Marquette's Quantitative Sentinel®) and up to eight bedside devices, such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and vital signs monitors.

Octacomm offers "plug and play" connections through Device ID Cable Adapters (DIDCATM), which automatically identify a device as soon as it is connected. These optically isolated connections also protect the interface equipment from electrical interference, and meet essential safety requirements for devices used in proximity to patients.

Most third-party devices transmit data with an RS-232 interface. Octacomm repackages this data and, using standard Unity® Network Ethernet protocol, transmits it to any hospital system needing access to clinical information.

Octacomm effectively eliminates one of the final barriers to complete local device connectivity. It is now possible to integrate diverse types of patient data and deliver it to the healthcare provider when and where it's needed most.
