The Abbott Matrix Analyzer detects and measures multiple analytes using color enzyme immunoassay (EIA) technology.

A patient sample is incubated in an Abbott Matrix test cell. Reagents are added, wash and incubation cycles are completed, and color changes are produced in the test cell. These color changes are read by the optical system and are converted into patient results, which are printed on paper by the printer.

The Abbott Matrix Analyzer should be run by a trained operator. It can be placed in any laboratory or physician's office.

The Matrix system is not currently available in the United States.
